History of the school of Industrial Engineering


 

 

As the first university of the country and the symbol of higher education in Iran, University of Tehran is a comprehensive university, which holds all university programs of different levels in observance of highest educational standards in the country and even the region.

College of engineering of University of Tehran, as the first authority in the country to hold engineering programs, is a leading body in training engineers and technology experts by holding wide ranges of programs. By establishment of University of Tehran in 1924, College of engineering was established by Dr. Mahmoud Hesabi as one of the six faculties of the university.

School of Industrial Engineering is a subsidiary to College of engineering of University of Tehran and admits students in graduate and post graduate programs. The faculty is located in Campus No. 2, Kargar Shomali St., Tehran.

 

The faculty was established in 1995 by taking student in master's program of industrial engineering. The bachelor program of systems analysis and planning was introduced in 2002. The PhD course was introduced by admitting 7 students in 2008 and the first PhD students were graduated in 2012. Other programs such as MBA, and socio-economic systems engineering were gradually developed.

Industrial and systems engineering programs were introduced in 1995 by the department of industrial engineering and the department developed into the School of Industrial Engineering in 2012 after securing required licenses from the authorities. Heads of the department since the establishment are as follows:

 

Dr. Mohammad Ali Azadeh (1995-1999)

Dr. Kamran Rezaei (1999-2005)

Dr. Mohsen Sadegh Amal Nik (2005-2006)

Dr. Fariborz Joulai (2006-2010)

Dr. Abbas Keramati (2010 up to now).


Currently, faculty board of the School of Industrial Engineering has 20 permanent members and 10 affiliated members. Five of the members are ranked as professors, 6 as associate professors, and 9 as assistant professors. The members are from different backgrounds in industrial engineering fields.
